Sophia is a senior at Farmington High School, where she participates in both basketball and track and field. She is actively involved in her church and has completed three mission trips across the globe. These experiences have given her a deep appreciation for the conveniences we enjoy in the U.S., such as easy access to food, clean water, and healthcare.
Last year, Sophia was part of the MNCAPS program and later enrolled in the CNA course offered at the high school. She recently passed her CNA certification exam. While she is still deciding on her plans for next year, she has applied to several colleges in the Midwest. Her goal is to pursue nursing or another healthcare-related field, driven by her passion for caring for others.
Her parents, who accompanied her today, shared that Sophia has always been a wonderful child and a patient helper.
Next Week: Joey Torkildson with Home at Home
My name is Joey Torkildson, and I’m a member of the Shoreview–Arden Hills Rotary Club.
I’m the co-founder of Home at Home, a Twin Cities–based company dedicated to helping older adults age gracefully, safely, and confidently in the comfort of their own homes. We do this through personalized home safety assessments, thoughtful modifications, and ongoing support services that empower individuals and families to plan ahead and thrive where they’re happiest…...at home.
A bit about me…..I’ve been a lifelong Twin Cities resident (45 years), grew up in New Brighton, and graduated from Irondale. I’ve spent the last 15 years in real estate, hold the Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES®) designation, and am also a retired Army Veteran of 23 years.
One of my passions is sharing what we’re learning about the future of aging and aging in place…..including the trends, challenges, and opportunities that affect nearly every family in our communities.
