April 19 brings us another edition of club assembly.This is a general business meeting of the club where you have the opportunity to hear everything that is going on behind the scenes. There will be reports from committee chairs including budget and donations, service projects, membership, RI Foundation activity, Ramble Jam and more. But the best part is the fellowship that happens at this meeting. And you know how much Rotarians love fellowship, and we need YOU to make that happen.

Join us on Thursday, April 26 at noon at Celt's in downtown Farmington when we honor our STRIVE students for the 2017-2018 academic year. STRIVE stands for Students Taking a Renewed Interest in Valuing Education. In this student-led program, seniors from Farmington High School work toward improving their academic and personal skills as they move toward graduation. Rotarians participate as mentors and facilitators at weekly meetings.
Since the only spring around here is in Tigger's tail, roadside cleanup – scheduled for this Saturday, April 21 – has been postponed. Please plan on the rain (ha!) date of May 19.
We'll meet at 9 a.m. at the Maintenance Facility, 19650 Municipal Drive. Bring gloves and your friends and family. This usually takes a couple of hours (goes faster with more help!), and then being Rotarians, we generally gather for fellowship at a local establishment if you can stay for that.

Rotarian Tom Severson's mom, Sharon Severson, passed away April 16 at the age of 79. Visitation takes place Fri., April 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. and the funeral is on Sat., April 21 at 10:30 a.m., both at Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 2119 Stillwater Ave. E in St. Paul.
A full obituary is expected to be posted in Thusday's issue of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
We are still in need of a Rotarian or two to organize a few Ramble Jam promotional opportunities – specifically parades for Farmington Dew Days in June, Rosemount Leprechaun Days in July, and Farmington Homecoming in the fall. Without some help, we simply can't promote Ramble Jam to the extent necessary for a successful event. Email Linda if you want to further explore this opportunity.

The next sponsorship committee meeting is Wed., April 18 at 5 p.m. at Bourbon Butcher. Please think about your sphere of influence and reach out to potential sponsors with the sponsorship packet, or email Janie and Jenna with contact information and they will reach out.
The committee is looking for a Rotarian or two to take charge of organizing parades and events to promote Ramble Jam. Reach out to Linda for information.

Fri., Sept. 14 - Setup at fairgrounds begins at 8 a.m. Gates open at 4 p.m.
Sat., Sept. 15 - Gates open at noon. Don't miss the celebration at the VIP bar at midnight. It's a tradition.
Sun., Sept. 16 - Cleanup begins at 8 a.m., followed by brunch around noontime. Many hands make light work!

Rotary is for old white guys, right? Well certainly not in Farmington, Minn.! But unfortunately Rotary's roots are deep and wide, and many clubs around the world are not particularly attractive to young people. In response, Rotary created Rotaract clubs to bring together people ages 18-30 to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service. In communities worldwide, Rotary and Rotaract members work side by side to take action through service.
Now Rotary is celebrating 50 years of Rotaract and all Rotarians are invited to come celebrate with our very own local Rotaract clubs! Join Twin Cities Rotaract and Rotary District 5960 for an evening of celebration, beer, and food with all the proceeds going to Books for Africa.
Wednesday, April 25, 2018 6pm-8pm Summit Brewery in St. Paul
Reality Store is a simulated learning experience in household money management that offers an opportunity for students to learn basic skills in financial planning, goal setting, decision making and career planning. On Tues., May 8, Roundbank brings the experience to Farmington High School and needs business people to volunteer to help students figure out what they want to be when they grow up, and if that occupation supports them in the style to which they would like to become accustomed.
