Joe Miller Photography
They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  How many words is a great picture worth?  Does it take an expensive camera to tell a great story or can that handheld device that we carry around each day be used in ways we had no idea it could?  My hope is that Joe Miller will be able to show us that our phones can tell great stories.
 
Joe Miller of Joe Miller Photography will be joining us this week to show us some tips and tricks to taking great photographs with the piece of technology that we can't seem to part with. 
 
After this speaker my hope is that I can stop speaking so much and let images do the talking for me... well that probably won't happen because I admit I do like the sound of my own voice :)
No STRIVE this week
I am thankful for my fellow Rotarians that keep me walking the straight and narrow and let me know items I should know but don't :)  No STRIVE this week.  I can't wait to hear about their Thanksgiving and what they loved the most about being done with the 1st Trimester next week.

Enjoy your Rotary friends while having fun and doing good in the world. Check out the following opportunities:
 
 
  • Shark Tank - 8th grade style
    • Volunteers are needed to be judges for some of our future entreprenuers
      • These future leaders will be identifying a problem or need, inventing or creating a solution and marketing their product (Sounds like my Capstone class in my senior year of college and they are doing it in 8th grade!)
    • Dates and times are not concrete with the information I have at this time but it is in February
    • If interested please email : tlee@farmington.k12.mn.us for more information
 
  • Breaking Free Current Needs Drive - this can be a 1 time item or something we look to do on a more consistent basis
    • Breaking Free does amazing things with victims of sex trafficking
    • They are always in need of donations - the link above takes you to their current needs
    • This can be a group discussion about how the logistics of collecting the items needed
    • Leshia has a .pdf of items needed that we can start collecting for the month of February - The Source will not allow me to paste it in the body of this email - please let me know if you would like to see the list and I can send it to you.
Meeting hosts
A reminder to check the meeting host schedule in the sidebar of The Source to learn when you are scheduled to serve. Each Rotarian serves as a meeting host one month of the year and is responsible for working with your co-host(s) to do the following:
  • Schedule speakers for your month
  • Arrive early to set up
  • Give the meal count to the kitchen
  • Stay late to take down
Please review the meeting host responsibilities for complete details. Contact Janie if you have questions or a conflict with the month you are assigned.
 
Thank you Dave and Barb for being great meeting hosts for February.  Don, Jenna and Larry ... Spring is right around the corner.  Make sure that we feel that warmth when we walk in every Thursday.
