Feb. 1 meeting: Students of the Month
Join us on Feb. 1 when we honor some deserving students from Christian Life Academy during our monthly Students-of-the-Month meeting. Brennan Young, fifth grade; Aldo Guzman Castillo, eighth grade; and Joel Vandegrift, twelfth grade, will be recognized.

Come and hear from these amazing young people who so generously give of their time and talents to our community. Guests are encouraged to attend this inspiring meeting.
Feb. 8 meeting: Brand Farms
It might be the depths of winter in Minnesota, but local farmer Aaron Brand is busy year-round with his farming operation, Brand Farms, producing milk, eggs and apples for Farmington and beyond.  Join us on Feb. 8 when we hear from Aaron, a fourth-generation farmer, about his decision to expand his family's dairy farm to include products they had never before produced and where you can purchase them. Guests are also invited to "Think Spring" at noon at Celt's in downtown Farmington.
Ending Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is modern day slavery. It enslaves millions of people. It is happening everywhere – all around the world and in our own communities. Human trafficking can – and must – be stopped. It will take all of us to engage together in a coordinated and collaborative effort.

Rotary Clubs of Minnesota are hosting a catalyst event to equip and mobilize our entire community to end human trafficking.

As a key community leader, you are invited to join Assistant US Attorney Laura Provinzino, Senator Amy Klobuchar, and Dr. Lauren Martin for this important event.

Every Rotarian who attends four meetings this month will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card to Bourbon Butcher. And remember, attending ANY Rotary meeting counts - not just the weekly lunch meetings. STRIVE, Ramble Jam or board meetings and service projects all count. Just remember to write it down on the attendance sheet. And you get an extra entry for attending more than four meetings this month.

Membership Chair Amanda Stender will use the monthly attendance sheet to figure out who is entered into the drawing. And you can't win if you don't enter, so make sure you sign in on the attendance sheet for all of your Rotary activities.
Spring conference
The spring Conference of Clubs (formerly known as the District Conference) will be held on Thursday and Friday, April 19-20, at the new Mystic Conference Center, part of the Mystic Lake Hotel and Casino complex, in Prior Lake. See attached brochure for more information on what is planned.
33rd Annual Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Luncheon
360 Communities' 33rd Annual Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Luncheon takes place Fri., Mar. 23 at Bracket's Crossing Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Registration begins at 11 a.m.

For the thirty-third year, 360 Communities will bring together law enforcement, elected officials, members of the violence prevention movement and concerned citizens to stand up and say, "No More" to domestic and sexual violence. More than 300 people are expected to attend this years' luncheon, titled Prevention: let's start with our youth.

The cost is $30 and the luncheon does sell out, so register now.
Meeting hosts
It's April and it's STILL snowing. And Jay and Tom are STILL our meeting hosts for the month – not that that is a bad thing, mind you. Annie, Kyle A., Kyle H. and TJ are up in May as meeting hosts, along with the promised spring flowers. Jamie and Steve then round out the 2017-2018 Rotary year as meeting hosts in June.

Meeting hosts are responsible for the following:
  • Scheduling speakers for their month
  • Arriving early to set up
  • Giving the meal count to the kitchen
  • Staying late to take down
Meeting hosts for the year are listed in The Source each week. Please review the meeting host responsibilities for complete details. Contact Janie if you have questions.
