Our April Students of the Month are:
- Joy Assanga from Boeckman Middle School
Joy is an eighth-grade student at Boeckman Middle School and was a unanimous choice for this award when staff and teachers were asked to nominate a student. She is the kind of student every school hopes for—helpful, inspiring, fun, and kind—and she consistently goes above and beyond to achieve her goals. Joy is actively involved in choir, track and field, and band, where she plays the trumpet. She is known for her bright smile and great sense of humor. As she looks ahead to high school next year, Joy is especially excited to participate in marching band. In her spare time, she enjoys reading.
- Josue Rosales Varela from Farmington High School.
Josue is a senior at Farmington High School who was nominated for this award in recognition of his hard work and genuinely helpful nature. He is consistently described as positive, mature, and level‑headed. Josue serves as a teacher assistant in the foreign language department, particularly in Spanish classes, where his contributions are invaluable. His teacher shares that he is an essential part of the classroom, offering meaningful support to both students and staff. Known as a strong leader and an engaging storyteller, Josue brings energy and enthusiasm to everything he does. Next year, he plans to continue his education by studying welding at Dakota County Technical College (DCTC).
