Last Week: Senior of the Month
Betty Steege was our September Senior Citizen of the Month!
Betty was accompanied by her friend Dorothy, who was a past recipient of the senior of the month honor. Betty grew up in the Farmington area. She volunteers at the Dakota City and the school house at Dakota City was her original school for her first 8 years of school. She was a teacher in Pine Island and that's where she met her husband and had two sons. She now has 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is an avid quilter and makes quilts for all her grand and great grandchildren. She also makes sensory/fidget and lap blankets for the residents at Trinity. Betty is very activity with events at the Terrace, where she lives. She helps with events like setting up card games and bible study.

City of Farmington, press release: The Rambling River Center’s 40th Anniversary Celebration is taking place at the center, 325 Oak St., on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- 11:00 social
- 12:00 pm – lunch begins: classic hog roast
- Program to follow lunch
- Om Pah Pah Band will provide music

This event will have a hog roast, time capsule, ceremonial bench and tree dedication, pumpkin decoration content and photo booth.

- Sept 30th - MappingPrejudice Project, Univ of MN Libraries – 0730-0830 – Webinar – The DEI team from Rochester (made up of members of all 3 Rochester clubs) is hosting Karen . - Sept 28th – Effective Leadership – The Anoka club is proud to announce that they are holding an effective leadership workshop with Michael Angelo Caruso as the keynote speaker. Breakfast at 0800 and the workshop from 0830-1130. Get your tickets early. They max out at 150 participants. It will be held at the GreenHaven Golf and Event Center in Anoka. Full write up will come out with the Around the District monthly member newsletter.

- Sep 16th – All Club Luncheon at the North Star Zone Institute – Radisson Blu – MOA – noon-2pm - The speaker is the RI President for 2023-24 Gordon McNally from Scotland. Tickets are $60. Clubs can reserve a table for 10. Get tickets here
