According to the Facebook page of the YMCA Communities Host Home project, "On any given night, there is an estimated 2500 unaccompanied youth between the ages of 15-21 who are homeless in Minnesota. There are only about 100 youth shelter beds."

 

I suppose we would be naive to assume this doesn't happen in Dakota County. Or Farmington.

 

Zoom in at noon on Thursday to hear from a group of volunteers working to address youth homelessness in Dakota County. Sounds like it's right up Rotary's alley! 

 

Last week we heard from Jenna, Sara and Nate about a potential opportunity to partner with Farmington's Dew Days committee to resurrect Dew Days, either late this summer or early fall, and how this could serve as a fundraiser for our club. 

 

At the March 24 board meeting, your board of directors approved the following: "Board agrees that the fundraising committee will continue to explore the option of partnering with the Dew Days committee on an event later this summer or fall. Approval to officially partner will be made when the board has the date, scope of event, potential costs and fundraising potential."
